Silent Auction
Silent auctions let you collect in an entirely new and private way! In a silent auction, you will place a bid on your favorite digital collectible Artwork (in Gems) for whatever you are personally willing to spend on the piece. The value of your bid is hidden from other auction participants, just as you will not be able to see what they have bid, and when the auction timer expires — the highest bidder wins! Gary Baseman
Gary Baseman is known for his broad art practice that includes award-winning illustration and animation (Emmy and BAFTA-award winning Teacher’s Pet), fine art, performance, toy design and fashion. Baseman coined the term “Pervasive Art” in the early 2000s and states, “Art can be appropriate in almost any medium, from print to TV to film to paintings to consumer products, as long as you stay true to your aesthetic and have a strong sense of meaning.” Baseman continues to blur boundaries of art, expanding into the depths of the digital world.
Toby
Toby is artist Gary Baseman’s iconic character featured in fine art, photography, video, performance, advertising, fashion and toy design. Known as everyone’s “best friend” and “keeper of secrets,” Toby is an all-knowing and compassionate cat with a great sense of curiosity and adventure. Baseman blurred the lines of fine art and toy culture in 2005 with the introduction of Toby as a limited edition 16-inch plush figure that could only be acquired at a fine art gallery. As Baseman says, “Toby is omnipresent, sees all, knows all, accepts and loves you. Toby truly loves you.”

This will be my first painting created into a digital collectible, and I am proud to do it with Veve. ‘I will always believe your lies’ was produced for the original For the Love of Toby exhibition in Los Angeles, where I also introduced the original 16-inch Toby plush. This painting celebrates the birth of Toby as the Keeper of Our Secrets, who loves everyone unconditionally. No matter how harsh the world can be, how dishonest we are even with ourselves, we will always have Toby’s love.
